We now live in an age where it is possible to predict who might be at a higher risk of developing Type 1 diabetes, before they experience any symptoms. This means that these individuals can be monitored for changes in blood markers and/or symptoms, meaning insulin can be started promptly as needed. In addition, the last few years have seen a huge rise in the number of people using wearable diabetes technology, to help them live well with their diabetes. In this issue, we follow Aiko, our young hero as she finds herself in both of these situations and sees the true power of insulin combined with tech first hand… enjoy!
